L02 Be able to produce a design and plan for the production of a 3D modelled environment



P2) Produce a design and plan for production of a 3D modelled environment for us in a console game.


Rockstar Games wants you to model an environment for their new Grand Theft Auto game.

The environment has to be a Mafia owned champagne bar. It must feature chairs, tables, plants and hanging lights.






The game will be from a first person point of view.


Therefore Rockstar want you to animate the lead character doing the following:

a)  Walking into the champagne bar environment

b)  Looking around the champagne bar environment

c)   Knocking over a chair

d)  Sitting down in a chair

e)  Looking around the champagne environment while sat down.






TASK

DESIGN PRE-PRODUCTION:

Create a powerpoint that uses the below as headings and explain each one relating to your ideas and designs around the champagne bar environment you are going to construct.

Separate each task in your group and label each page with A, B C etc. and title of task



A.) Genre

Explain the genre of the console game: Grand Theft Auto.




B.) Outline game plan

Explain how the Grand Theft Auto game will use your constructed champagne bar environment and first person animation.

Consider:

i)   Where in the game does the champagne bar environment appear?

ii) What will happen in the champagne bar environment scene?

iii) Why is the champagne bar environment important?

         Add six found images of champagne bar environments. Include pictures of chairs, table, etc.

         Add images of similar environments found in   
         games and explain how they are used.




C.) Environment visuals / Concept art

Sketch and design the following for the champagne bar environment.

     i) Moodboards

    ii) Three initial sketches of environment i.e.  
         champagne bar building

    iii) Initial sketches of props i.e. chairs, tables, plants




   D.) Create a twelve panel storyboard showing a lead 
         character in first person doing the following:

i)   Walking into the champagne bar environment

                      ii) Looking around the champagne bar  
                            environment

                      iii) Knocking over a chair

                      iv) Sitting down in a chair

                      v) Looking around the champagne  
                           environment while sat down.





    E.) Possible animation technique

Explain first person character animation creation with use of Maya camera.

Explain Maya animation keying of having a chair topple over.
